Week 15: GridIrony versus Dead Rabbits & Da Ditkas versus Wolfens

Fighting Marmots versus The Butchers

Wolfens and GridIrony advance. The first round bye for Da Ditkas and Dead Rabbits gives them the earned opportunity to face only one opponent before Superbowl weekend.

The stage is set: Dead Rabbits went 12-1 in the regular season and Da Ditkas battled back from early loses as did GridIrony. Wolfens want to spoil the Superbowl chances of Da Ditkas and the high flying, powerhouse of the league, Dead Rabbits are looking to stop GridIrony from making the Superbowl in back-to-back seasons.

The League has officially existed for 4 years but GridIrony and Wolfens were added to the league 3 years ago. The Bus Drivers were added this year and will need to rebuild and make some changes to be a top contender next year. *League-O-Sphere is proud to have kept track of this fantasy year and will be in business next year to record the next season of our league.

In 2007, we will have a keeper league and hold a livedraft. Livedraft was held for the first time in 2006.

Best players of the week:

QB: Eli Manning:
18.79 of Wolfens

WR: Donald Driver: 22.70 of The Butchers

RB: Maurice Jones-Drew: 28.05 of GridIrony

K: Nate Kaeding: 12.00 of Fighting Marmots

D: Aaron Schobel: 25.50 of Wolfens

Stay tuned Week 15 of the Playoffs coming soon, really soon.

Week 13 (End Regular Season)

Week 13 began with a 5 way tie for the 2nd place bye. Da Ditkas ended up claiming it in a come from behind win on Monday Night Football. GridIrony was 36.76 ahead but the combined points of Westbrook, Williams and Peppers put Da Ditkas over the top. Week 14 begins the playoffs and the road to the Superbowl is near at hand.

Wolfens Versus
The Butchers

GridIrony Versus
Fighting Marmots

Around the league:
Reggie Bush tied a franchise record by scoring 4 TD's and gained 168 total yards--including 131 yards on 9 receptions.
Go, Saints.

Martin Gramatica signed last week to replace Mike Vanderjagt kicked a 46 yard field goal with one second left to lift Dallas Cowboys past New York Giants.

Backup QB
Derek Anderson replacing injured Charlie Frye threw two fourth-quarter TD passes and ran 33 yards in overtime to set up Phil Dawson's 33 yard field goal giving Cleveland the win over Kansas City.

Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison hooked up for their 100th TD pass Sunday as a QB/WR duo. They have been teammates 1998 to current.

Rex Grossman had a QB rating of
1.8 (yes) and Da Bears still won.
Defense!
Rex means king. He was certainly king of playing errors...but Da Bears roll on
and are 10-2 with Rex Grossman.

Marc Bulger threw 3 interception and his team generated
126 yards in penalties.
No, not rushing yards, penalties. Edgerrin James ran for 115 yards. Even the challenged Cardinals managed to capitalize on such terrible mistakes from the Rams. The final score: Arizona: 34 versus Rams: 20 (Just had to add James did pretty well...I miss him being on Colts team.) But with Addai, do they miss him? I doubt it. Probably like James may miss them.

Also some breaking news: Jake Delhomme might be benched for the next Carolina game when Panthers play Giants. Why? Here is the reason:
Written: 12/7, 2006 at 5: 30 AM. So you know it was breaking news when I wrote it. Jake Delhomme has an injury and is listed as questionable. Delhomme has injured the thumb of his throwing hand. If he can't go this Sunday his backup will get the start. According to sources it has nothing to do with Delhomme's performance at QB in the last several games.

Week 12

This week saw all 6 playoff spots earned. Argonauts, The Bus Drivers, Skoal Bandits and Sweetpea's Minions did not make the playoffs. League-o-sphere gives honorable mentions to The Bus Drivers and Skoal Bandits.
Also week 12 put the top 2 through 6 teams in the playoffs tied for a playoff bye. GridIrony, Fighting Marmots, Da Ditkas, The Butchers and Wolfens are in a 5 way tie at 7-5. Week 13 should be interesting indeed.
The
holiday approaching has messed with my schedule so week 12 will be abbreviated. Sorry. Week 13 will have league news.

Now for the standings week 12:
Fighting Marmots: 147.88
GridIrony: 138.31

Dead Rabbits: 156.90
Da Ditkas: 13.09

The Butchers: 143.52
Argonauts: 101.33

The Bus Drivers: 116.69
Sweetpea's Minions: 72.89

Wolfens: 107.11
Skoal Bandits: 65.46

Top players this week:

TE: Antonio Gates: 16.05 of Argonauts

K: Josh Brown: 16.00 of The Butchers

D: Asante Samuel: 29.25 of Fighting Marmots

Also I will post the regular season standings of all 10 teams with total fantasy points after the week 13 results are known.

Week 11

Lets get right to the socres:

Wolfens: 104.90
Butchers: 81.71

Dead Rabbits: 151.95
Fighting Marmots: 101.88

Da Ditkas: 165.79 (Ouch! I feel the pain)
Bus Drivers: 112.01 (The Bus got parked)

GridIrony: 117.63
Argonauts: 94.69 (Could have been a contender)

Skoal Bandits: 95.73
Sweetpea's Minions: 50.61

Now for some smacktalk to show you where the league is at concerning slams.
Da Ditkas: "You're about to drive in a wall named Da Ditkas." In reference to the game this week. You can see what happened. Last time The Bus Drivers narrowly defeated Da Ditkas.

The Bus Driver response: "Last time it was close, let's make sure it's not close this time...Loser."

Da Ditkas after results of the week 11 game: "Well we did what we said. It wasn't even close...Loser."
*As League-o-sphere said earlier: Ouch!*
A rivalry has been born. Da Ditkas versus The Bus Drivers. Considering the attitudes of these coaches it is sure to be a long and bloody season next year.

3 Questions answered: Sadly Colts lost to Dallas. New QB Tony Romo fueled a win against the Colts. Romo now has the highest passer rating in the league. Argonauts did not change their smacktalk. And no LT could not be held to less than 3 touchdowns.

N
ow for the best players of week 11:

QB: Tom Brady: 23.18 of Fighting Marmots

WR: Lee Evans: 36.25 of Dead Rabbits

RB: Tomlinson: 35.95 of Da Ditkas (Will probably hold this spot from week 11 on.)

TE: L.J. Smith: 15.85 of Dead Rabbits

K: Jason Elam: 10.00 of The Bus Drivers

D: Jason Taylor: 28.50 of Da Ditkas

Week 10

A lot of things happened Week 10. I am excited to see how week 11 and 12 will turn out. Lets start with a little bit of smacktalk and smack review too...
"Time to get back on track." Skoal Bandits said this. The Bus Drivers that played them week 10 responded: "I stop for tracks, didn't happen to see yours." The result of the battle between them is listed below. Marmots declared: "Two weeks in a row over 150. The Marmot train is rolling and there's no stopping it!"
Da Ditkas counter: "Get a job, hippy! You'll need a fallback after I embarrass you!"
Well, the result of that match up proved it really is "You can't stop a Trane." Not "You can't stop a Marmot train."
Now on to the versus for this week:

The Bus drivers: 123.34
Skoal Bandits: 79.57

The Butchers: 130.15
Sweetpea's Minions: 86.59

Da Ditkas: 148.06
Fighting Marmots: 86.11

Dead Rabbits: 97.40
Argonauts: 92.09

GridIrony: 150.57
Wolfens: 67.92
Now for the best players of week 10. This week I listed a tie at Kicker.

QB: Phillip Rivers: 21.86 of Da Ditkas

WR: Chad Johnson: 36.00 of The Bus Drivers (Whoosh! A hit-and-run beatdown)

RB: LaDainian Tomlinson: 37.90 of Da Ditkas

TE: Marques Colston: 19.20 of Wolfens (Most receptions of a rookie in NFL history)

K: Jeff Wilkins/Shayne Graham: 12.00 of Dead Rabbits/GridIrony

D: Julius Peppers: 24.50 of Da Ditkas

The return of
3 Questions: Is Argonauts ever going to change their smacktalk? Will Dallas defeat Colts? (League-o-sphere votes: No.) Can LaDainian Tomlinson be held to less than 3 Touchdowns this week?

Around the League: Charges outgun Bengals: The Bengals ahead at half-time 28-7. But then Chargers battled back with 6 touchdowns. Tomlinson got 4 of them. Rivers threw for 337 yards and 3 scores. Carson Palmer's 440 yards and 3 touchdowns, was not enough to stop San Diego.
Bears defeat Giants: Chicago rookie Devin Hester caught a short field goal attempt and returned it 108 yards for a TD to tie an NFL record held by fellow teammate Nathan Vasher.
Indianapolis Colts: Still perfect at
9-0. Colts beat Buffalo Bills by only 1 point.
Colts are the only NFL team to start
9-0 in back-to-back seasons.

Running Wild:
Willie Parker rushed 213 yards-5 shy of a franchise record-and 2 touchdowns.
Frank Gore had a career high 159 rushing yards and also scored a Touchdown as Bizarro Niners defeated Detroit.
Mark Brunell has been repalced at QB.
Washington is in deep trouble this year.
Well that does it this week for Around the League. And for Week 10 too. Come back to check week 11 results...and to get another look at total win-loss counts in our league.
End Week 10.

Week 9

Lets get right to some smacktalking: Fighting Marmots: "Two weeks in a row over 150. The Marmot train is rolling and there's no stopping it!"
Da Ditkas: "Get a job hippy! You'll need a fallback after I embarrass you!"
Fighting Marmots and Da Ditkas play each other this week, as if that need to be said.

A number of players did an amazing job this week but only so many can get listed.
QB: Brees 24.73 of Argonauts.

WR: J. Walker 34.30 of Fighting Marmots.

RB: Tomlinson 30.60 of Da Ditkas.

TE: Gonzalez 20.15 of Fighting Marmots.

K: Shane Graham 10.00 of GridIrony

D: London Fletcher 27.75 of The Butchers

Now for week 9 standings:
The Butchers: 149.41
Skoal Bandits: 84.60

Dead Rabbits: 116.68
Wolfens: 101.48

GridIrony: 135.07
Sweetpea's Minions: 76.12

Fighting Marmots: 153.72
Bus Drivers: 96.05

Da Ditkas: 134.12
Argonauts: 86.21

The over all standings for the league are listed below. This is the closest the race for the playoffs have ever been for 2nd through 10th place. The top 6 make the playoffs. Dead Rabbits holds the top spot and has clinched a playoff spot week 9. The remaining 5 spots are up for grabs. Week 10 will be very important. Argonauts, playing to keep their playoff hopes alive. Skoal Bandits are 3-6 and they play The Bus Drivers, also 3-6. With 4 games left until the playoff spots are decided it is likely to be a rocky race on the road to these playoffs.
Below the standings are listed as: Team name, Win/Loss, (total fantasy points) and *special*

Dead Rabbits 8/1 (979.83) *So far DR's only loss is to Sweetpea's Minions.*

F. Marmots 6/3 (1,117.90) *2 consecutive weeks scoring over 150.*

GridIrony 5/4 (1,111.83) *8 consecutive weeks scoring over 100.*

Wolfens 5/4 (1,015.11) *Much stronger team than last year.*

The Butchers 5/4 (1,002.34) *Narrow defeat of Bus Drivers changed everything.*

Da Ditkas 5/4 (992.10) *Must play red-hot Marmots week 10.*

Skoal B. 3/6 (973.98) *Has lost 4 in a row...looking to end the slide.*

Bus Drivers 3/6 (918.14) *Plays Bandits. Driving goal: Improve to 4/6.*

Sp. Minions 3/6 (775.20) *Low fantasy points a serious problem...*

Argonauts 2/7 (874.38) *Working to escape 10th place, the dungeon.*

Now you know where the league stands.
Colts are the only unbeaten team in the NFL. Miami beat Chicago Bears. Gerrard gains starting job over Byron. Toomer out for the season. NYG is hit with numerous injuries on defense and offense and must play the Bears this week.
I'll have more NFL news in my week 10 post.
End week 9.

Wee8(special note, game update*)

The Bus Drivers did not beat The Butchers in week 8. A late point correction in Yahoo! revealed that The Butchers had managed to get a very narrow lead. Instead of a win The Bus Drivers went to 3-6. Week 9 shows the correct standings.
But to make sure it is listed more than once: The Butchers are 5-4 and
The Bus Drivers are 3-6.
Also point corrections came in for Dead Rabbits versus Sweetpea's Minions game but the additon to The Dead Rabbits score was not enough to lift them to a win against Minions. Dead Rabbits is 8-1 and Sweetpea's Minions are 3-6.

Now go click on week 9 to see the standing and best players. (*Week 8 post will remain unchanged as it represented the league, as accurately as possible, "correctly" at the time of that post.*)

Week 8

Week 8 was amazing. Several close games. The Bus Drivers came from behind against the heavily favored The Butchers to snag a win. And the most amazing thing to happen: Dead Rabbits see an end to the dream of a perfect season in a trap game. Sweetpea's Minions managed to defeat Dead Rabbits this week and improve to 3-5. Wolfens held off Da Ditkas and Argonauts fell to Fighting Marmots who were in Paragon beatdown mode. It was a slaughter as Fighting Marmots scored 167.89 points. This replaces the original highest score of 163.00 recorded by Dead Rabbits. You will see a listing of records after the regular season posted on League-o-sphere (And just to ask: How did Raiders beat Pittsburgh? No, really.)
Shameful loss, no one should lose to the Raiders.
Now, on to the scores of the week:
GridIrony: 120.80
Skoal Bandits: 106.59

Fighting Marmots: 167.89
*****Five star beatdown*****
Argonauts: 96.72

Wolfens: 128.43
Da Ditkas: 116.06

SweetPea's Minions: 90.73
Dead Rabbits: 86.19

The Bus Drivers: 94.42
The Butchers: 91.71

Now lets look at the best players for week 8:
QB: Peyton Manning 26.85-GridIrony

WR: Reggie Wayne 36.90-Wolfens. (!)

RB: Larry Johnson 35.05-Fighting Marmots (!)

TE: Colston 26.15-Wolfens

K: Gould 12.00-Skoal Bandits

D: Shawne Merriman 21.75-Dead Rabbits *(Note: The highest scoring Defensive player this week is Merriman. Dead Rabbits had Merriman benched due to his drug suspension. But Merriman, as you can see, played. He played very hard.)
*

Also the Panthers did so badly that John Fox apologized to all Panther fans that purchased tickets and came to the Dallas beats the daylights out of The Panthers game...I mean Dallas versus Panthers. It was a home game and Panthers played a horrific 4th quarter.

Tony Romo got his first start as Dallas QB and ended it with the smackdown of Carolina Panthers. Drew Bledsoe is now the back-up and isn't happy with it either. His NFL career might just be over.
Greenbay Packers win 2 in a row...
Colts and Bears stay perfect. The Broncos Vs. Colts, to me, was one of the best games I have seen in a long time. Colts: 34
Broncos: 31
End Week 8

Week 7

Week 7 was something to behold. A close game between GridIrony and The Butchers. It marked the first time that Skoal Bandits scored under 100 points in any week. To bad Bandits had that very off week against the undefeated team Dead Rabbits.
Also, I have been sick, I am really late updating this page. Sorry. But I did have to go to the ememgency room and take painkillers too. I am fine. Now. So I had to reconstruct week 7. So it won't be near as interesting as most of the posts. So with no FX at all...

Dead Rabbits: 92.95
Skoal Bandits: 74.98

GridIrony: 143.99
The Butchers: 139.02

Fighting Marmots: 127.50

The Bus Drivers: 140.04
Argonauts: 123.72

Da Ditkas: 133.55

WR: Hines Ward 32.55-GridIrony
RB: Westbrook 24.45-Da Ditkas
TE: Crumpler 29.85-The Butchers
K: Rackers 9.00-Argonauts
D: R. Barber 35.25-Sweetpea's Minions *(Wow!)
End week 7

Saturday, October 21, 2006

Week 6

The Skoal Bandits swore to defeat Da Ditkas but the team could not get it done. Da Ditkas won, coming from behind on Monday night, and have now moved back into the playoff hunt. Da Ditkas have gotten out of the cellar. GridIrony did not think they could do it...but Da Ditkas did.

Now for the week 6 scores:
The Bus Drivers: 118.19
GridIrony: 113.76

Fighting Marmots: 120.83
Sweetpea's MInions: 77.06

Da Ditkas: 134.90
Skoal Bandits: 128.28

Dead Rabbits: 126.97
The Butchers: 116.50

Argonauts: 138.68
Wolfens: 107.20

The league also looks like this: Dead Rabbits: 6 Wins and Zero losses
Wolfens: 4-2
Skoal bandits: 3-3
Fighting Marmots: 3-3
The Butchers: 3-3
Da Ditkas: 3-3

Best players this week:
QB: Hasslebeck 20.46 of Argonauts

TE: Shockey 20.75 of Wolfens

K: J. Brown 15.00 of The Butchers

D: J. Hall 23.25 of Skoal Bandits

Well that does it for League-o-sphere this week. Next week I'll have smacktalk again and some news around the league too. Sorry but this week has been rather unusual and I just now am able to fit in the time to post this week. (*Skoal Bandits guarantees a win against undefeated Dead Rabbits week 7...Stay tuned.*) PS: Yes LT+Westbrook= wins...the jury is in.
End Week 6.

The Bus Drivers: 83.58

Argonauts: 89.95
Sweetpea's Minions: 69.00

Da Ditkas: 91.67
The Butchers: 62.98

Skoal Bandits: 108.59
Fighting Marmots: 97.30

Dead Rabbits: 114.90
GridIrony: 104.12

Best Players: ****Lito Sheppard will not officially be on The Butchers team till week 6 but this is what this guy did: Lito Sheppard: 7 solo tackles. 2 interceptions. 1TD. Pass deflections 7.
QB: McNabb of The Bus Drivers.
WR: Lee Evans 20.45 of The Bus Drivers.
RB: Bush 21.30 of The Dead Rabbits.

K: Gould 19.75 of Skoal Bandits.
D: W. Harris 25.50 of Wolfens ****See Lito above.

Smacktalk: The Bus Drivers: "Don't take this ass whippin personally."
GridIrony:
"The wheels on the bus go round & round, round & round...but go no damned place."

Skoal Bandits--- This smacktalk was broadcast on our message board and was addressed to the Shufords. This would be Argonauts, Da Ditkas and fighting Marmots...all 3 are brothers. The smacktalk:
"U know what is pissing me off?? Ur excuses...I'm sure you will have alot of them after I give you the beating of your life this weekend...Westbrook or not, you are no match for my coaching skills.. I've got Skillz that killz. The Shuford Slayer."
The post was longer and detailed how Skoal Bandits would beat them all. Only Da Ditkas stands in his way. If Skoal Bandits win week 6 he will have defeated Argonauts, Fighting Marmots and Da Ditkas, all 3 Shufords.

Look for worst fantasy players week 6. Also this week no week 5.9 will be posted unless something exciting or interesting happens

My questions: Yes, Argonauts did rally and get a win week 5.
Does LT+Westbrook= wins, simples as that. (Jury is still out on that one.)
And will Agronauts ever change their Smacktalk. (Have not yet.)

Week 4.9

Originally a Post entitled 4.2 was supposed to be put up. Instead that is replaced by 4.9
Welcome to League-o-sphere. This week GridIrony and Da Ditkas faced off, not on the field, but on the message boards of Yahoo! and it was not pretty. Da Ditkas has opposing views to GridIrony and Da Ditkas swears they will break out of the cellar this week. GridIrony says:
"Sell it, don't tell it."
Now on to the best of Week 4 players: QB: McNabb 25.11 of The Bus Drivers.
WR: Santana Moss 28.90 of The Butchers.
RB: Larry Johnson 23.10 of Fighting Marmots.
TE: Colston 17.60 of Wolfens.
K: Wilkins 17.00 of Dead Rabbits.
D: Jason Taylor 21.50 of Da Ditkas.

Don't let your babies grow up to kick Cowboys. Not if they are in the NFL especially. Albert Haynesworth was suspended for 5 games for stomping Andre Gurode. Haynesworth stomped a helmet-less Gurode and gashed open his forehead. This is the longest suspension for an on-field violation. Charles Martin, Packers received a 2 game suspension in 1986. Kenoy Kennedy, Broncos received a 1 game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet. And Rodney Harrison, Chargers was suspended a game for striking Jerry Rice with a helmet.
Also Kurt Warner has been benched and Leinart will have the QB position. Leinart will probably make it or break it in as few as 3 games.
It won't be long now. Week 5 is nearly here. I'll post the points for the week and the standings too in Week 5, look for it Wednesday/Thursday.
Week 4 versus:
GridIrony: 142.14
Da Ditkas: 77.23

Fighting Marmots: 132.30
The Butchers: 97.98

Dead Rabbits: 94.35
The Bus Drivers: 75.91

Skoal Bandits: 120.79
Argonauts: 76.61

Wolfens: 110.34
Sweetpea's Minions: 79.80

Week 4

This week League-o-sphere will start off with smacktalk.

Da Ditkas: "Just stay out of my way or you'll pay, listen to what I say."
The Butchers responded: "I am going to beat the rhyme out of you, stupid football poet."
In other smack talk Dead Rabbits taunted The Bus Drivers and Marmots sent a message to Skoal Bandits. Wolfens issued a challenge to The Bus Drivers.
Dead Rabbits: "Maybe if The Bus Drivers had a real team, they would've won......"
Fighting Marmots: "Time to chew up some Skoal and spit it out!"
Wolfens: "Think you can drive yourself to victory this week?"
And finally Argonauts:
"Jason & Co won the regular season last year. This time, it's for the whole shabang."

Now for the standings:
1. Dead Rabbits------ 4-0 442.14 Moves: 10
2. Wolfens----------- 3-1 456.20 Moves: 17 (QB psychosis)
3. The Butchers----- 3-1 442.72 Moves: 12
4. GridIrony--------- 2-2 494.09 Moves: 16
5. Skoal Bandits------2-2 470.94 Moves: 11
6. Fighting Marmots-- 2-2 450.66 Moves: 14
7. Sweetpea's Min.----2-2 361.08 Moves: 02
8. The Bus Drivers--- 1-3 388.86 Moves: 15
9. Da Ditkas----------1-3 381.80 Moves: 14
10. Argonauts-------- 0-4 339.10 Moves: 00

In Week 4.2 the points for this week will be listed along with the best players for week 4.

The addition of the Moves and the win/loss and the total fantasy points serve as a good show of where the league is. I may post Moves again week 8 but not before then.
Only one team in the history of League-o-sphere has had 5 losses and zero wins as of week 5 and made it to the playoffs. The team was Argonauts. GridIrony defeated them in the second round of the playoffs last year. Three Questions: Will Argonauts be able to rally? Will Argonauts ever change their smacktalk? Does LT+Westbrook really equal wins, simple as that?
End Week 4.

Week 3.9

Week 4 is now. The standings are:

1. Dead Rabbits
2. The Butchers
3. Wolfens
4. Sweetpea's Minions
5. GridIrony
6. Skoal Bandits
7. Fighting Marmots
8. The Bus Drivers
9. Da Ditkas
10. Argonauts

The only bit of smacktalk this week was from Dead Rabbits and The Bus drivers.
Dead Rabbits: Next!!!!!!
The Bus Drivers: I'm next Biatch!
As the rivalry between them heats up The Bus Drivers, being an expansion team, have a lot to prove against the unbeaten Dead Rabbits.

Around the league: 402 Faver is the second player in NFL history to throw at least 400 TD's.
Mark Brunell: Washington Redskins' Brunell set the NFL mark for consecutive completions in a game: 22. Chris Simms had his spleen removed. Vick and Dunn, the third runningback/Quarterback duo in NFL history to top 100 yards rushing in a game. Vick:
127
Dunn: 134.

That does it for Week 3.9---Check back for Week 4 Wednesday/Thursday.

Week 3

Fighting Marmots: 131.35
GridIrony: 110.33

Dead Rabbits: 123.86
Da Ditkas: 90.71

The Butchers: 123.62
Argonauts: 78.32

Wolfens: 118.90
Skoal Bandits: 107.66

Sweetpea's Minions: 90.29
The Bus Drivers: 89.27
Welcome to week 3 updates. The standings will appear in Week 3.9
The best of the best is where we will begin. This week I also "promised" the worst players on a team would be named. I wanted to go with active players but decided to go with worst players on a team. Makes my job easier. Here we go:
QB: Eli Manning-18.00 of Wolfens
WR: Darrell Jackson-22.60 of GridIrony
RB: Westbrook-30.20 of Da Ditkas (Shout out to Portis of Skoal Bandits)
TE: Todd Heap-12.80 of Sweetpea's Minions
K: Kasay-20.00 of Wolfens
D: Rhodes-23.25 of Dead Rabbits

Worst Fantasy players: QB: Roethlisberger -7.75 of Butchers. WR: Branch-3.55 of S. Bandits.
RB: Davenport-0.00 of Argonauts. TE: Mangum-4.20 of Sweetpea's.
K: K. Mangum-15.00 of Sweetpea's Minions. D: Freeney-0.75 of The Bus Drivers.

My three questions- Yes, Dead Rabbits held onto the top spot more than one week in a row. The Panthers did win a game and as of this article: No, Argonauts have not changed their smacktalk.

An aside: Wolfens: "I want The Butchers to lose this week." GridIrony responds: "Butchers are playing Argonauts this week." Wolfens: "Oh, never mind then..."

Enemies and or foils:
The Bus Drivers made sure to make rivals out of Dead Rabbits with smacktalk directed dead at his team over the last two weeks. Sweetpea's Minions have been involved in the smacktalk indirectly. Numerous times the fact that Sweetpea's head coach is a woman has been mentioned by Skoal Bandits, GridIrony, The Bus Drivers and others. Sweetpea's Minions are for no joke...wake up.
Also
Fighting Marmots
snatched a shocking win this week from GridIrony, the favored in the contest, and as such GridIrony vowed that "...Revenge lives here..." But none the less the damage was done. Speaking of damage, Da Ditkas challenged Dead Rabbits but Da Ditkas came away with a loss. The Bus Drivers plan to take down Dead Rabbits this week. The Bus Drivers pledge to make Dead Rabbits thier bitch. Time will tell.

At present the only team without a win is Argonauts. The head coach is dealing with injuries and players that usually perform much better underperforming for him...and to add to the difficulty an apparent, not proved, attempt at suicide by one Argonaut team member.
End Week 3.

Week 2.9

Two teams have yet to lose: The Butchers and Dead Rabbits. Two teams have yet to register a win: Argonauts & Fighting Marmots. Argonauts plan to win the Superbowl, still, so they need to score a win this week. Six teams are 1-1 so Sunday could shake up the standings.
Da Ditkas are dealing with injuries this week...six players are injured, two questionable. Dead Rabbits intend to take advantage of this weakness. But Da Ditkas warn: "Just stay out of my way or you'll pay, listen to what I say." Fighting Marmots pledge to hand GridIrony their ass this week and Argonauts will have to get a win without Tomlinson. Wolfens are looking for payback and a big game from Shawn Alexander.
Three questions: Can anyone hold onto the #1 spot more than a single week? Will Argonauts ever change their smacktalk? Will Carolina Panthers finally get a win? Check back for the Week 3 Post on Wednesday/Thursday. Everyone have a great Football Sunday.

Week 2

Lets get right to the points this week:

Sweetpea's Minions: 120.82
Skoal Bandits: 108.15

The Butchers: 123.06
Wolfens: 86.47

The Bus Drivers: 100.05
Da Ditkas: 99.02

Dead Rabbits: 113.34
Fighting Marmots: 92.65

GridIrony: 143.50
Argonauts: 88.72

Lets get down to some smacktalk too. Da Ditkas promised to go undefeated all year. That ended week 2. Bus Drivers: "Your team couldn't score with a fist full of fifties in a dollar whore house." Da Ditkas went into Monday night with Hines Ward and Matt Jones. He expected to get two touchdowns and wrap up the win. That did not happen. Steelers went scoreless, a shocker true, and Matt Jones couldn't get it done all by his lonesome. The Bus Drivers managed a win by 1.03 making for an exciting night of MNF. In addition Sweetpea's Minions had the game on the line too. But she managed to pull ahead for the victory, stunning Skoal Bandits.
Marmots: "Last week was a fluke 5 from Brady? Nothing from Jordan. Watch out this week Scott!" Dead Rabbits: "I was watching. What happened? Oh yeah 5 from Brady and nothing from Jordan."
Well that sums that up does it not? I guess so.
Preview of some early week 3 smack as well...Skoal Bandits: "I'm going D&D style on you this week." Week 3 Skoal Bandits plays Wolfens. One can only guess he means hack and slash. It worked for The Butchers, I'll carve you up, in week 2.

Now onto the best players in our league, or rather some of the best, after a word from our sponsor. *Word.*
QB: Peyton Manning-24.10 of GridIrony WR: Amani Toomer-30.85 of Dead Rabbits
RB: Tomlinson-25.10 of Argonauts TE: Colston-12.90 of Wolfens
Defense: Julius Peppers-28.00 of Da Ditkas...Gamble and Fox owe Pep a new car, house and some bling. (Also a shout out to Eli Manning and NY Giants. You guys rule.)

The Standings: 1. Dead Rabbits 2-0 *undefeated
2. The Butchers 2-0 *undefeated
3. Skoal Bandits
4. GridIrony (8th last week 4th this week)
5. Wolfens (1st last week 5th this week)
6. The Bus drivers
7. Da Ditkas
8. Sweetpea's Minions
9. Argonauts
10. Fighting Marmots
As for my three questions: No, wolfens did not hold onto the top spot. Who will get to the 1,000 Fantasy point marker first. The top three as of week 2 are: Skoal Bandits: 242.49 GridIrony: 241.62 and Wolfens: 226.96 And which Bell is the best? I don't know. But it could be Tatum, though right now that isn't saying much.

Next week I'll have the worst total point earners for QB, WR, RB, TE, Defense and K.

League news: Sunday there were 86 sacks. Raiders QB's have been sacked an NFL-leading 15 times this season. It is only week 2 as you know. Eli Mannig was sacked 8 times but his team in a rally of herculean type proportion came back in overtime to win the game 30 to 24 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Carolina Panthers racked up 5 sacks but lost to the Vikings 16 to 13.

Well, that wraps up league-o-sphere for week 2. Be sure to check back for week 2.9 as I guarantee some interesting developments.

Week 1.9

The top 5 fantasy earners will be for QB, WR, RB, TE and Defense. Kickers that get over 10 may or may not be listed. So, best QB numbers, WR...and so on. Only one Defensive player will be named, sorry. I thought it over and wanted to give better clarity to the games. Example: 3 QB's or possibly 4 Defensive players might actually make it into the top 5, best players, and leave out stunning performances by WR's, TE's and the like. So I've changed how I list them. I'm sure that other players will find their way in due to many reasons and this Top 5 will be extended often. The worst players will be listed ever 3rd week...lowest total points gained. I don't want to have to scour the points to post the worst, over all, of 10 teams at every position on a weekly basis. I look forward to making League-o-Sphere a great memory for the players of our league...not a let down by reflectiong all the worst players ever week. So, soon the games will be underway. Week two will begin. Three Questions: Will Wolfens hold onto the #1 Spot? What player will be the first to break 1,000 total fantasy points? (Be watching, the first player to do it will be named.) And finally: Which Bell is the best?

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

Week one.

Wolfens: 140.49
GridIrony: 98.12

Da Ditkas: 114.84
Fighting Marmots: 95.36

Argonauts: 99.20
Dead Rabbits: 110.59

Sweetpea's Minions: 70.17
The Butchers: 98.06

The Bus Drivers: 123.63
Skoal Bandits: 134.34

The above teams played one another. Last year GridIrony was the Superbowl champion and until this year GridIrony had never lost week one. Also last year Dead Rabbits had a rather terrible season...but this is now, not then. The saga will continue week two.
Argonauts has made it clear they will win the entire shabang. Skoal Bandits welcomed The Bus Drivers into the league with some smacktalk: " Well that settles that, welcome to the league."
Dead Rabbits promised to make Argonauts sorry they even joined the league...mission accomplished?
GridIrony was very confused about losing week one...cause, you know, that never happend before. But they vowed to regroup.
The current standings:
WEEK ONE
1. Wolfens
2. Skoal Bandits
3. Da Ditkas
4. Dead Rabbits
5. The Butchers
6. The Bus Drivers
7. Argonauts
8. GridIrony
9. Fighting Marmots
10. Sweetpea's Minions

Week two I will be posting, as I see it, the best smacktalk(s) but no more than 3 will make the cut. In additon as time goes on more colorful commentary will be added. After all this is going to get more intersting beyond week two.
A new feature to be added week two is: Top 5 players, Fantasy points, and the team they are on. Also the QB, WR, RB, TE, K and Defensive player with the worst point total will also be listed, along with what team they play for. If ever a tie happens the team with the worst record so far will have that player named if the point totals are for worst player. If the top 5, best fantasy earners, happen to have a tie then the team that has the best record will get his player named.
This ends the commentary for week one.
